Communication & Confidence

Constructive Feedback training

Helping managers and colleagues give feedback that is clear, fair and useful, and receive it without defensiveness.

A simple feedback structure

Good feedback is specific, fair and about behaviour, not personality. A simple structure makes it far easier to give and to hear.

Select a stage to explore it.
  1. SituationWhen and where it happened, so it's concrete.
  2. BehaviourWhat the person actually did or said, described factually.
  3. ImpactThe effect it had on the work, the team or the customer.
  4. Next stepWhat you'd like to see next time, or a question to explore it together.

Overview

Feedback is one of the most powerful tools for improving performance, and one of the most avoided. Praise is often vague, criticism is often delayed until it becomes a bigger problem, and people on the receiving end can feel blindsided.

This course gives participants simple, reliable structures for feedback, and the confidence to use them. It covers positive and developmental feedback, upward and peer feedback, and how to receive feedback well.

  • Team leaders and those new to line management

Signs your team would benefit

If any of these sound familiar, constructive feedback training is likely to make a real difference.

    Understand the core idea

Short, clear input on the model behind the course, without jargon.

  3. 3

    Practise

Participants practise giving and receiving feedback using the structure, in pairs and small groups.

  4. 4

    Apply it to real scenarios

Groups work through examples drawn from your workplace and sector.

Constructive Feedback training: FAQs

Is this just for managers?

It's most often used for managers, but it works equally well for whole teams, especially where peer feedback is part of how you work.

Do you teach a specific feedback model?

We introduce a small number of simple, well-established structures and help participants choose what suits the situation.

Can this link to our appraisal process?

Yes. We can build your appraisal or review approach into the course.

What changes back at work

The real test of training is what people do differently on an ordinary day. Here's what constructive feedback looks like in practice.

A report misses key data

The manager raises it the same day, with the specific example and what's needed.

Someone handles a crisis well

They hear exactly what they did that made the difference.

Feedback is received

The person listens, asks a question and thanks them, instead of defending.
